Wildcats Running Wild

Last year, the Arkansas coaching staff developed the "Wildcat" formation, with running back Darren McFadden taking snaps at the quarterback positions. McFadden collected more then 2,000 yards and completed 7 of 9 passes for 69 yards and three touchdowns, with help of the "Wildcat" Formation.

Over the summer, a couple of other teams started to jump on the "Wildcat." Georgia Tech is using the formation with Tashard Choice and Clemson has used it with CJ Spiller and James Davis.

The best thing that the "Wildcat" Formation does is allow a team's best players to get their hands on the ball as much as possible and all of this was invented by former high school coach and current Tulsa offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn.

Malzahn introduced the concept the Arkansas last year and it took off, leave it to the a former high school coach to have a ground breaking idea.
