Electric Football is not dead

Two decades ago electric football appeared to be dead, but now its making a little of a comeback. A couple of weeks ago, part of the Only Time Will Tell tailgating crew went to a friends house and saw one of the great electric football collections.

Ties and Tattoos

Wow a couple of weeks ago, wifey and I decided to take the plunge, no not get married cause we already did that, but instead move into the 21st century of TV. So we decided to step up and purchase a High Def TV and boy has my sports life been different since then.

Gone are the days are watching regular TV, now its about all about sports in HD. My life has been changed for ever both in a positive and a negative way.

Since the HD has come into my life I have stopped communicating with the outside work, hey there is too much HD sports on to even think about talking to people. Earlier today, my friend over at Sox and Phils sent me a message asking me if I have given up on Only Time Will Tell, my answer was easy ""No, I've not had that much time because of the amount of HD sports that I have been watching.''

But with all of the positives of the HD, there are a couple of negatives: ties and tattoos. On regular TV both ties and tattoos look blurry and really not that interesting, but in HD it's a different story. Now ties look brighter and more detailed, which is not always a good things. Some on air personalities need to have their heads examined when they pick out their ties.
With College Basketball season starting, there are all kinds of tattoos on HD and sometimes you wonder why a person would put that on their body. With HD every tattoo looks detailed, which makes you question some of these players choices.
So its back to the HD for the rest of the night the 'Canes are on .

The Cover Story: SI Style

With the season just starting, SI this week released their college basketball preview editions with a twist. Instead of having a key men's player on the cover, the magazine decided to put the best men's and women's player from the same school on the cover. Its very interesting, but I really like it.

A lazy day

So the weather outside is terrible and no games to go to, that can mean only one thing a few day of sports. Starting with some soccer Arsenal vs. Aston Villa and then moving on to college football. Here are my thoughts during the lazy day.

The Next Generation of Heels

While North Carolina comes into the season ranked number 1. Roy Williams is planning for the future of the program with the top ranked recruiting class for 2009. The early signing period started Wednesday and here is a look at the next generation of Heels:

You can see why this next generation might be comparable to the 2006 class, which has carried the program for the last couple of years. It makes you feel good to know that talent level at the Smith Center is not going to drop any time soon.

It's not easy being Orange

What do Clemson, Tennessee, and Syracuse all have a common, they all wear orange and are looking for a new football coach. Orange seems like the color of doom around college football.
Clemson started the year as a different pick to play for the national championship. Now they are such a mess that making a bowl game seems like it's going to be impossible. They fired Mr. Tommy Bowden and now are looking for someone to restart the program.
Tennessee over the off season went out and hired a new offensive coordinator to change the offense, that has not worked out. The team has no quarterback and an offense that might be one of the worst in any BCS conference.
Syracuse where do you start with them, they are just terrible. No offense, no defense and a coach that could not coach a Pop Warner team.

Usually black is the color of doom, but this year in college football it appears to be orange.

It's now the start of the season

Soccer Saturday with the gang

Jeff Stelling should look out as the gang gives a great recreation of the Soccer Saturday on Sky Sports, classic and Wayne can get a puppy after the Specials Ones election win, sound familiar.

So Far Ok

A couple of months ago the best sports talk team in the United States was broken up. Mike and the Mad Dog was no more and both Mike Francesa and Chris Russo decided to go their separate ways, with Francesa stay at WFAN and Russo moving over the Sirius XM Radio to host his own show and channel.

So far Russo's new show, Mad Dog Unleashed, has been ok. There are a couple of things that Russo has to learn in order to take his show to the next level.

The major thing that Russo has to do his learn more about college football. I think that Russo under estimated how popular college football is. When he was in at WFAN college football never really came up except for the time they took the show to the Rutgers Louisville game a couple of years ago. People living the SEC and Big 12 countries do not have pro teams to root for and their college football's teams are the only thing that they have. Besides that his show has been a success. The guest have been outstanding and have not been limited to New York media types.

His show is already moving in a positive direction and I can not wait to continue to watch the show develop, which it will.

It's that time of year again

November is here and that can mean only one thing, the EPL has gone to the yellow and purple bal, for the winterl. When the yellow ball comes out that means the season starts for real and Arsenal struggle. We will again see the traditional white ball in a couple of months.

A Return to Respect

For the last seven years Lyon has dominated the French League and PSG has been down at the bottom part of the table for the last couple of years. But that all appears to be change.

For the last couple of years PSG has been battling to stay out of League Two. But this year that appears not to be worry. The club that gave Europe their first look at Ronaldinho appears to have their house in order.

Last week PSG went to OM and won for the first time in a long time. So maybe Paul LeGuen has gotten Paris's only top flight team back to the top of the French standings right where they should be.

Maybe if it all continues PSG will be hosting a Champions League game which would be nice.

Phinally!

A couple of years ago, comedian Bill Burr did a set during the Opie and Anthony Comedy Festival about how the Phillies would never win anything because their uniforms look like candy stripers , well last night, Mr. Burr was wrong. The Phillies are World Series Champions, yes that sounds weird but true. Congrats to all of the Phillie fans out their and especially my friends at Sox and Phils.
