Lets start the hype machine for Super Bowl XLVIII

So Super Bowl XLVIII at the Meadowlands is two years away and already the hype machine has started. In Sundays New York Times' sports section the committee that brought the game to the Met Life Stadium took out an ad counting down to the game. If you think that this years hype was out of control, wait till Super Bowl XLVIII, its should be out of control.

It's so bad now former Eagles Players are fighting on Twitter

On Thursday while the Eagles were falling apart on the field again, two of the their former players where having their own issues on twitter. During the game, former running back Brian Westbrook, @36westbrook, and Dan Klecko, @kleck90, got into a twitter fight. Above is a screen cap of Westbrook's answer to one of Klecko's tweet. Based on Westbrook tweet it does not seem to be a pleasant twitter discussion.

I went searching for what triggered the fight but it appears that Klecko has deleted his account. Just when you think that this season could not get an worst for the Birds, now you have former players fighting each other in social media.

Cover Story: The Eagles season

For the most part the Philadelphia Eagles season has been a total mess. Each week has been a total disaster. The only positive to come from this has been the headlines and back pages of the Philly Daily News. They have been terrific. Here is a small sampling of some of the better ones of the season so far.

Professional Tailgating: It has turned

OTWT Tailgating Crew made the trip to the Linc to see the Pats take on the Eagles, it ended up not being much of a game but rather a funeral for the birds. Here are some of the sites from the game.

Professional Tailgating: Now that is a "Dream Team"

For the first seven weeks of the season, Eagles fans have been waiting for all of the pieces to come together and on Sunday night against the Cowboys they did. OTWT Tailgating Crew was there to document the fun.

Another Busy Football Weekend

A couple of weeks ago the OTWT Tailgating crew took in the Rutgers vs. Pitt game and then drove to Buffalo for the Eagles and Bills game. This weekend it will be more of the same, as we head to Rutgers for the Knights game against West Virgina on Saturday and then head to Philly on Sunday for the Eagles and Cowboys game. It's going to be another long weekend, lets hope that both of my teams can win, so all of the driving will be worth it.

Everyone Knows Your Gone

Since the end of the regular season one topic has continued to dominate discussion among Eagles fan, what does the future hold for former starting QB Kevin Kolb. At this point, the smart money is on the former University of Houston Cougar being traded at someone point during this crazy off season.

The idea of Kolb being is not a secret to anyone including the staff at Babies R Us. During one of my weekly trips to the baby superstore, I noticed a bunch of Kolb jerseys were sitting on a "By 1 get 1 free" rack at the store, a sure sign that his career with the Birds is over.

Once Babies R Us starts reducing your merchandise you know that your time in a city is almost over.

Rodgers now has his belt

So Aaron Rodgers now has his championship belt. Rodgers and the Packers beat the Steelers last night in a really good football game. Here is how newspapers in Green Bay and Pittsburgh covered the game.

A blast from the past

It's a blast from the past, the 2002 Philadelphia Eagles NFC East Championship plate. The one thing that strikes you when you look at the plate are the players on that team. From Brian Mitchell to James Thrash to Bobby Taylor to Corey Simon to Donovan McNabb to David Ackers. Its like a blast from the past. I wonder how this team won anything. Shows how good a coach Big Red really is.

Professional Tailgating: One and Done Again

For the second year in a row, the Eagles made the playoffs and went out as quickly as they came in. Here are some of the sights from around the Linc yesterday.

This guy is a big Vick fan, I wonder what he thought of Vick's final pass of the game

This years theme Heart
Hats are nice way to celebrate a division title, but nothing beats an ice sculpture
Balloon Eagle that got in my way all night
You know its a big game, when there is a flag like this on the field

I hope Vick acts like a Super Hero tomorrow

I saw this on the net and could not help but post it. Mike Vick needs to be a video game hero tomorrow in their playoff game against the Green Bay Packers

Ok Enough is Enough

Nothing positive came out of the Eagles loss to the Vikings, but one thing became increasing clear when it comes to the Birds this season, the play of DeSean Jackson as a wide receiver. I know what people are thinking, what say a bad word about DJ, I know its hard but sometimes your best offensive players have to take the blame for what happens.

Against the Giants, Jackson made on of the most memorable plays in Eagles history with his punt return, but against the Vikings, Jackson's faults as a receiver came to light. For all of his talents Jackson is not a big time receiver, he is a big time play makers and there is a huge difference between the two. During the Vikings game, Jackson failed to get across the defensive backs several times almost leading to several interceptions. Another thing that became clearer during the game was when Mike Vick started to get flushed from the pocket Jackson never worked his way back to the Vick, like you are taught to do when your quarterback takes off. At one point during the game, Vick was talking to the Jackson and being really animated, I could only guess it was about the same issue.

Something is also becoming clear, when Vick needs to convert a big third down he looks for one man and its not DJ10, its Jeremy Maclin and the reason is simple. Maclin might be on the best route runners in the leagues and always gives Vick a good target to throw and the yardage that is needed.

Maybe over the next couple of years Maclin can teach DJ how to be come a big time receiver and not just a big time play maker.I know some people will never say anything bad about DJ, because of his play making ability, but the time has come for him to develop into the player that everyone thinks that he can be.

It's Official

A year that started with a lot of question has given the Eagles a NFC East Division title, I hope this is the first of more championships to come our way.
